First trout and early drama on the Minni
The first browns have been caught on Minnivallalaekur this season. We had to wait for day two as the conditions were quite appaling for day one. But as ever, the huge brown trout are there andwe did not have to wait long for the first big drama of the season.
The group starting encountered a mix of sleet and hailstorms on the opening day and the warm interior of the cosy lodge beckoned. The next day the weather was far better and some light rain devoured most of the snowfall from the day before.

Instantly anglers were into fish and one of them fishing the Stöðvarhylur caught four on the spin, a companion then arriving and landing the fifth. Elsewhere there were further hookups, among them a huge old fish, well into double figures that struggled for over twenty minutes before breaking the leader! The fish landed ranged from 2 to 7 pounds and the most prolific fly was a white Nobbler, size 6.
