We have had some fine quality spring weather over the last few days following some wintery conditions the first two or three days of the season which started last Wedensday. The fish are there and they are big. Here are some titbits of news and an idea om some of the flies that are working.

Tungulaekur is doing well. Extreame cold held it back over the first 2-3 days but since it has been fast improving. The same goes for Minnivallalaekur. The former has produced fish of over ten pounds, the latter fish of up to an estimated eight pounds.

The Varma has produced several hugse trout, browns ranging to an estimated 13 to 14 pounds and char of an estimated 10 and 12 pounds.

The last group on Tungufljot, ending yesterday, finished with 18 sea trout ranging from 60 to 85 cm, the biggest are equivilents of 14-16 pounders in their prime condition.

The Easter hollidays are now upon us and many rivers will be flogged not the least as the wether forecast is in good condition. So we hope to have further news for you on the spring proceedings in Iceland over the next few days. In the meantime, have a look at some of the popular spring sea trout flies. As you can see, cone headed streamers are widly chosen by both the fly fishers and the trout themselves!
