We had a very promising start to the start of the new salmon season. Six ere landed on Nordura, one of our listed rivers, while another up north, Blanda, had two landed today. Nordura looked beautiful today, the water level was prime time-level and it really looked like summer was really here to stay.

The chairmen of the board of the Angling Club of Reykjavík open the river every season and last year they had six landed over the two and a half days. They have the same number now following two out of five shifts this year and three of them are very good looking and big mws‘s A total of six have been hooked and lost so the start of Nordura has been very satisfactory.

The first salmon was a 66 cm grilse and another of the six was a grilse which is rather unexpected, but the other four were mws‘s, two of them 80 cm salmon, equivalents of 12-13 pounders. All were released and three were taken on floating lines and Sunray Shadow tubes.

The water levels are falling but the rivers still look good. Today, the chairman of the Angling Club of Reykjavík hooked and lost a big one. A very dramatic engagement which left the chairman depleated and defeated...he then went on to lose another one, but that‘s life and he‘ll be around for a while yet!
