Laxa in Adaldalur: Fine start to the season!
Above and below we have two of the four excellent mws's landed on the Big Laxa in Adaldalur today. Pix were broguth to us by the NASF.
We hear that the Big Laxa in Adaldal has had a very promising start to the new season, with two rods starting below the Aedarfossar this morning landing four very good mws‘s on various tube flies. The Big Laxa is a fly only catch and release fishery these days so all were released.
„They were big ones, 12 to 14 pounders, fresh run and beautiful fish. The anglers opening the river saw some good ones down there so this goes down as a promising start to the season,“ Orri Vigfússon of the NASF told us today. Orri is also the head of Laxárfélagið (The Laxá company) which leases some of the best beats on the river.
These are not the first salmon from the river this season though, trout fishermen were sighting and hooking a few salmon in the early days of June, one on the Knútsstaða beat, aonother on Núpafossbrún and a third on Óseyri.
