Nordura earlier this month became the first river in Iceland to reach a three figure catch when it slid over the 100-line. This morning the first three day fishing party of the season landed exactly 100 salmon from Nordura.

In fact Nordura is vibrant at the moment. The water level is receeding day by day as we wait for some rain, but the fishing is great and the runs are awesome. Two anglers peering into the pool Myrkhylsrennur became weak in the knees and their tounges hung out like neck ties as the observed a school of at least 200 salmon. And that was in the one pool. It was the same story on pool after pool. Upto last Saturday there were 240 recorded salmon in the Glanni counter. Then, the following night (if night is what you call it in Iceland in late June!) another 230 swam through the counter in that single night. So a good start to the season seems to be blossoming into something very agreeable at the moment.
