The old Canadian geezers opening Breiddalsa have finally broken their duck, as they landed three salmon yesterday. The group has an averag age of 90 according to outfitter Throstur Ellidason and he states that it is an honour and priviledge to cater to them. He has even drafted in some boats to make things easier for his clients.

The first day didn‘t go well, two fish hooked and both broke off. There were sightings in various pools in the river and hookups were expected. However there were only the two but according to Throstur, that did not dampen the spirits of his clientele.

„The Breiddalsa has never been fished from boats bofore but some of the pools are beyond these guys so we braught some in. They are Canadian and have fished together all over the world for decades and soon they will have to stop. You‘ll do anything for a group like this,“ Throstur told us.

He also told us that the Jokla fishery has some salmon running already, earlier in the season than ever before. No one was fishing at the start of the week so the caretaker pulled his rod from out of some garage and tried several pools. He landed one 7 pounder and lost another. Severela fine trout have been landed as well, among them some good bags from Fogruhlidaros, big char among the catch, upto 5 pounders.

The photo above showes boatfishing on Breiddalsa for the first time ever. Weather it be the last time as well we will have to see!
