The fishing has beengreat in Haffjardara so far this season and the river has produced one of the countries 20 pounders as well. The water levels in the west have been falling recently but this has not deterred the Haffjardara salmon from running the river in numbers.

Einar Sigfusson, one of the rivers outfitters and owners told us recently that most shifts were producing 10 to 20 salmon which is outstandin on a river that varies from 4 to 6 rods per day. To begin with, most of the catch consisted of mws‘s ranging from estimated 8 to 12 pounds with the odd bigger one. One such was a 100 cm  monster cock fish caught in the Cave pool and landed after a frenzied chase several hundred yards downstream. Over the recent 1-2 weeks, grilse runs have become more dminant as was to be expected but there are bigger salmon running along side them as well.
