Iceland back to normal

Salmon are now entering the rivers. This photo is from Ellidaar. Photo by Heimir Óskarsson.
You may have heard the news: The volcano is now back to dormant mode. Flights are back on track and summer is here! Two days untill the first salmon rivers open.
It goes without saying that the volcano was a real pain in the a… and not only fishing outfitters but all forms of tourism in Iceland were hit hard by cancellations in the wake of it. You never know how volcanic eruptions will pan out but this one appears to be over and Icelanders are hoping for at least an average rainy summer along the south coast to stifle the fine ash that covers a lot of ground in the nearest vicinity of the volcano/glacier. Some locations really need cleaning up. Due to the cancellations, tourist authorities and operators have combined to get the message abroad that all is well in Iceland. It has not been covered by lava. No one died. Most things are the same. There is no more a threat of further eruptions than usual. The threat is alwas there. This is that kind of place. Has always been and always will be. It didn't stop you from coming before so it should not stop you now. Take a look at this: http://www.inspiredbyiceland.com/
If you have any worries about coming to Iceland to fish, then put them behind you and just book your flights and get over here. There are still availabilities here and there and most of the fishing is of high quality. The trout season is already under way and the salmon fishing just around the corner.
