The lower beats are below the dam at Bru. These are four seperate beats fished with a total of ten rods. The beats are on the east bank Presthvammur with one rod and Hraun below with three rods. On the west bank Stadartorfa and Mulatorfa with three rods each. These rods have access to the Nes-Arnes beat salmon lodge during early season before the salmon season starts and shift to another lodge after that. They are good self catering facilities, although full service after the salmon arrive. . All beats are in Aðaldalur valley and directly below them the famous salmon beats of Nes and Árnes take over.

The beats are all outstanding and full of brown trout. They are slightly less in average weight than above the dam but still of excellent size and fish of up to 10 pounds are taken below the dam as well as above it. All of the beats offer the chance of a salmon or two after mid season but they are under strict catch and release regulations.

Below the dam the valley widens vastly and the mountainous panorama becomes more dramatic. The lush vegetation and rich birdlife stays with the angler, not only throughout the trout beats but all the way to Skjálfandi bay, where the river meets the Atlantic.
