Same as usual on Minni

Minnivallalaekur finished with a total of some 300 brown trout. It is close to the same total over the past few years so the river is consistent and stable. The season is long but few fish from August through September so the total catch is in fact mostly taken from April towards the end of July. It really is a shame that so few try the river late on as it is an underrated time to fish and the reason is probably that local anglers are to busy catching salmon during the late season.
In 2008 we had more monster trout than we have seen for several years and that is saying a lot. There were several browns ranging from 10 to 16 pounds, estimated, and one of the biggest ones, was caught twice by the same group of anglers. The angler who caught it the day after its first skirmish, was astounded by its fighting qualities having been hooked and landed and fought over a space of half an hour the day before, and being put back in very groggy!
