Following a rather cold start to the Minni season, things have been looking up recently and the usual huge browns have been seen, hooked, landed and released. Remarkable specimens, some ranging to an estimated 14 pounds!

Several Minni clients skipped their trips this spring due to cold weather for the greater part of the first half of April. Several hardy anglers dared the conditions nevertheless and most were richly rewarded for their numbed fingers. For instance we have news of a pair of anglers whom set about the Stöðvarhylur pool for an evening session recently and they ended up having landed five huge browns, estimated from 7 to 14 pounds. The biggest one was measured at 78 cm. Another group to try their luck landed seven browns and while they were not as huge on average, they were still a handfull everyone of them.

The pix above shows the biggest Minni-brown so far this season, a massive 78 cm brown trout, estimated at 14 pounds. The photo is from the outfitters website, www.strengir.is
