The seasons total for Steinsmýrarvötn was an impressive 837 brown trout, both sea run and stationary. There were also 44 char in the fishing log, although that is a lower total than could be expected. Sea trout, mostly juvenile 1 to 4 pounders plus a good sprinkling of bigger spawners were the majority of the catch in spring and autumn, while the stationary browns and the char held the torch over the middle part of the season.
