The seasons total for Steinsmyrarvotn was an impressive 837 brown trout, both sea run and stationary. There were also 44 char in the fishing log, although that is a lower total than could be expected. Sea trout, mostly juvenile 1 to 4 pounders plus a good sprinkling of bigger spawners were the majority of the catch in spring and autumn, while the stationary browns and the char held the torch over the middle part of the season.

The biggest sea trout was a retreating spawner caught during the spring. It measured 87 cm and weighed 6,8 kilos, which stands at 13,5 pounds. It must have been thin because according to it’;s length it might well have weighed 16 to 18 pounds while in prime condition. There were several 10 pounders caught as well and plenty of 5 to 7 pounders. So all in all, a very prolific season for an up and coming fishery.
