Tungufljot: First time angler lands monster!
Björn Freyr holds his huge sea trout, 91 cm cock fish.
We are looking at perhaps a week or max ten days remaining of the spring sea trout season. The fish are retreating in most of the rivers but we are still ab le to report on some outstanding catches and individual fish. One angler landed a 91 cm sea trout on Tungufljot recently. A fish in its twenties (pounds) in prime condition.
The happy angler, Björn Freyr Ingólfsson, was fishing the river for the first time and hooked up with the monster in the junction pool Sydri Hólmur. “It took me an hour and fiveteen minutes to land it and the fish was pretty shook up when I released it. It took a while to recover but it eventually did. What an adventure!” Björn told us. Björn and his friends landed five sea trout plus two fine arctic char. The group that took over landed 16 sea trout, all of them far downstream of the main spring pools of Sydri Hólmur and Flögubakkar.
