The fishing has been excellent on Tungulaekur following a few extreamly cold days at the start of the season. Due to its origin the river rarely freezes, yet so cold was the cold snap in Iceland at the end of March and the first days of April, that it did indeed freeze! But not any longer….

The group opening the river landed twelve sea trout on day one but they were severly hampered by the frost that had shut several of the best spring holding pools. Day two was worse and the group landed only three or four fish before calling it a day and instead renting a sight seing aircraft to view the scenic blowing volcano which is very close to the south coast sea trout rivers.

But then the frost relented and the fishing has been outstanding since. So Tungulaekur is defiantly back in action and according to repports the river is full of fish.
