Great start for Tungulaekur!

Iceland‘s angling season 2011 started in full flow last Friday, on the 1rst of April. Among the rivers to open up was the Tungulækur, Icelands finest sea trout fishery. And it started with a bang.
We spoke to the rivers owner, Thorarinn Kristinsson and he was delighted. „This is what we expected. The weather was horrible from the morning into mid afternoon on the Friday, but improved after that and stayed good until the starting group finished its fishing on the Saturday evening. The fishing was great, even while the weather was bad, they had some 100 sea trout on the three rods. Most of them in the 3 to 6 pound catergory but quite a few bigger spawners as well, one of them a 90 cm fish that was estimated at 18 pounds. There were other big ones, the next biggest being an estimated 15 pounder,“ Thorarinn told us.
