Massive salmon off Breiddalsa

One of the very biggest salmon landed off an Icelandic river so far this season came from the Breiddalsa a few days ago. It was a massive beast of 106 cm, weighed in the net at 12,5 kilos, 25 Icelandic pounds.
A British angler, Richard Arnold hooked the salmon on the pool Skammadalsbreiða and it took him forty minutes to tame it despite using a strong double handed rod. The fish took a Black and Blue cone head, a very popular fly on Icelandic rivers. The same day two other big one swere caught on Breidda, one of 95 cm, the other 90 cm. Both came off the bottom pool Klapparhylur. Breidda is a late river traditionally, yet has shown some good promise early on as have most rivers in this country this season.
