First fish on the Grimsa yesterday morning, 70 cm from the Laxfoss pool.

Grimsa has opened up explosively, 42 salmon landed in the first day of fishing, half of them being mws's. The start had even the eldest of experts scratching their chins trying to remember a better opener!

“This has been utterly amazing, the group was catching fish all over the river. I started on the Laxfoss and hooked four salmon on my first four casts. Up at the Strengir beat, the rod fishing up there landed seven salmon, the first four in the first hour and they were all big mws's. The Kotakvörn pool was also hot, seven more landed there on the first shift. There are more big salmon here than we have seen for quite a few years and the grilse are starting to run in numbers. This is very early for Grimsa and the same thing seems to be happening all over the country,” Jón Thor Júlíusson, the outfitter of the river, told us last night. The fishing started yesterday morning.
