Grimsa has been doing very well this season despite some long draughts. Grimsa has a more stable flow than most westland rivers and so has kept its high standard better.

During midweek the river had produced 1.523 salmon which is 184 more than the whole of last season. While the rivers 1.339 catch that year was considered average at best, this is a big improvement and although the record of 2008 is hardy at risk, this season is sure to go down as an above avegare year.

The river still has almost a mothn to run as it is one of the late starters. September is often productive on the Grimsa as the late season rains keep the salmon on their toes (so to speak) As usual the main catch is good sized grilse, yet this season has seen more mws‘s than for quite a few years. A trend that has been apparent on many Icelandic rivers this season.
