Fishing the remote northeast Hafralónsa started wedensday morning and the anglers on location reported that the river has some very strong early runs this year. They had landed ten mws's on two rods on the first three shifts.
Hafralonsa finished with one of its best ever totals. A mere 74 salmon less than last years record catch, a record that might have been broken if not for a twelfe day shorter season.
We have had a good season on the rivers of Thistilfjordur in the northeast. Perhaps not a record beckoning but a very good season nevertheless. The catch is mostly due to good mws runs, grilse are less plentyful and some of them are very small but others reasonable.
Hafralonsa is enjoyng some of its best fishing for years these days and some of the news filtering to us from the remote northeast makes thrilling reading. This river has been ever increasing in catch numbers over the past three years, last year was the record season according to existing statistics with some five hundred eigthy. This season will probably surpass that number.
The northeast river Hafralonsa is giving a good account of itself these days just as the northeast rivers in general seem to be in extra good shape this season. Hafra has had some strong runs recently, mostly consisting of mws‘s but there are some grilse starting to show themselves as well.
Several of our listed rivers produced record catches last season. Among them was the Hafralonsa up in the northeast, with 580 landed salmon. In some ways the river stands out among the rest. Lets look at it more closely.
