Hafralonsa makes anglers smile all the way

The northeast river Hafralonsa is giving a good account of itself these days just as the northeast rivers in general seem to be in extra good shape this season. Hafra has had some strong runs recently, mostly consisting of mws‘s but there are some grilse starting to show themselves as well.
We spoke to a local angler today, Baldur Snorrason. He had just got back home from a short fishing trip to Hafralonsa. His smile reached from one earlobe to the other. He told us: „The two of us took on one rod each for one fishing day, one afternoon and the morning after, that is. We have little experience on the river and as it is big and demanding, we were hardly expecting much. But, to our surprise we found that there are fish all over the river and obviously strong runs. We never went further up than to fish pool number 23 (out of 55) and despite our lack of knowledge we never the less hooked and landed ten salmon, all of which were mws‘s ranging from 70 to 85 cm. The only one we lost was of course by far the biggest one. Our aprox for that one would be close to 90 cm but we´ll never know as it tore loose. All in all, an exceptional trip for us and what a stunning river!“
