Hafralonsa is enjoyng some of its best fishing for years these days and some of the news filtering to us from the remote northeast makes thrilling reading. This river has been ever increasing in catch numbers over the past three years, last year was the record season according to existing statisticswith some five hundred. This season will probably surpass that number.

The river has already produced 118 salmon landed without even being fully booked due to recession cancellations. It is an astonishing total this early in the season, as the rivers in the northeast are traditionally „late“ rivers. A group that started yesterday noon had eight landed and several hooked up and lost on their first shift. Two Irish fellows stopped there for just over two days a few days ago and landed 42 salmon and lost quite a few as well. The catch is a mixture of mws‘s most of whom are 10 to 14 pounds, and big grilse. Four 98 cm brutes have been landed, fish that are in the 20 pound class.
