Langa, which registered a record catch last season is not that far from matching last seasons acheivements. The fishing has been great and the runs fabulous. The only downer has been the bad conditions. Still, almost 800 salmon have been landed.

This is slightly less total than last year at the same place in time. The runs are excellent and the river is producing catches from top to bottom. A very hot, sunny and calm July, for the biggest part, has however pulled the fishing down somewhat. Had the conditions been better the river would most certainly be matching last seasons great fishing.

The hot spell is over for the time being at least. It is in fact very cold at the moment by Icelandic standards according to the time of year, but the weather people maintain that this is just a short break, we will soon be back basking in the sun. But what we need is rain, although Langa is better equipped than the rest to maintain its standard. It has better water levels due to the water regulating dam in the headwater lake Langavatn. Still even a dam and a stash of water cannot contain sustain the river over a whole season, so Langa neads rain as bad as the rest. Yet, in the meantime, while we wait for a shift in the moods of the weather gods, the fishing remains remarkably good all things considered. It is mostly grilse fishing with hitched flies but there have been a few big ones, among them two that measured 91 and 94 cm. Both were released.
