So it begins on the Nes beats on the Big Laxa in Adaldalur. Over the weekend three 20 plus pounders were caught on the beats and the group that was fishing had one grilse out of fourteen landed salmon, with each and everyone of the mws‘s 12 pounds or bigger.
The threesome consisted of two 22 pounders caught on the pool Skriduflud, one of the beats better known big fish pools, and one twenty pounder from Grundarhorn. All were carefully unhokked and nursed back to health. Initially the fishing on Laxa started slowly this year but it has been picking up recently. We had some very hot weather up north for days and weeks earlier and the river was getting pretty weedy. However the centigrade has been in freefall todday and yesterday and that seemed to have a good affect on the activity of the salmon as they had been listless upto then.
