The fishing started on the Laxa in Kjos last Friday and despite low water conditions the fishing got off to a fine start, 13 salmon being landed on the first morning shift.

As in most Icelandic rivers this season,  anglers have been observing salmon in Laxa for weeks, yet the fishing did not start until the 25th of June. The thirteen salmon caught were a blend of grilse and mws's and they were caught all over the river. Fish were moving into the bottom pools as the first anglers of the season were starting their shift.

So this is a promising start for Laxa but we must hope for some rainy weather at regular intervals as there are little or no snowfields to feed the river. At least there has been some rain in June which has hardly been the case over the last few years.
