Laxa in Kjos had a dip in form this season although there were obviously plenty of fish , both salmon and sea trout, all over the river. The draughts hit the river harder than most and the seasons total is actually a very good one according to the bad conditions.

All in all the Laxa produced a catch of 1.170 salmon plus a few hundred sea trout. In comparison, last season had a sum of 1.404 salmon, obvioulsy a better season. For most of the season the water was far to low, starting from day one. There was little snow during the winter so accordingly there was no spring runoff. Then the little rains that did arrive sneakily avoided Laxa‘s lush valley. The river was soon appallingly low and didn´t actually recover until late in the season as the autumn rains were late as well.

So, perhaps a disapointing season, but that can happen anywhere and it is of some considerable consolation that the river had strong runs despite all. People have been mulling over the draughts this season and found that in 2007 it was pretty much the same, yet relatively better over the past two seasons. So you never know do you? Next summer it could rain all season long.
