Midfjardara: Biggest salmon so far

Amidst the constant news of great grilse runs in most of Icelands north coast river this season, it should no be forgotten that there are quite a few msw‘s being caught as well. Recently the biggest so far this season from Midfjardara was brought to the beach.

The angler is Russian and his salmon measured 101 cm which applies for 10,3 kilos in the official comparison charts involving lenght versus weight. The fish, which was a cock fish was coyght on a small Framces cone head in the Grjothylur pool on the mother river Midfjardara. The river system is still low but there has been some rain recently so the conditions have improved and the river has been swelling with outstandin runs over the past 2-3 weeks.
