Midfjardara: Good solid start

Midfjardara had a good solid start as seven salmon where landed on the first morning shift. As in other Icelandic rivers, the salmon started ascending earlier than usual and many pools on the river are already holding scores of fish.

According to Rafn Valur Alfreðsson, the outfitter, most of the salmon where good solid mws's, ranging from 74 to 89 cm. Most of the fish came off the Vestura tributary where individual pools were holding up to 70 salmon. “The water levels are looking like an average July day so the fishing was mostly done by hitching and the use of floating lines.
