Straumfjardara had an ok total of 350 salmon this season. Not bad comparing to many seasons of late, but comparing to the last two outstanding seasons, the amount of fish running and the general fine display of other rivers, there is a sense of disapointment on the banks of Straumfjardara.
Straumfjardara, next door neighbour to Haffjardara, has enjoyed a fine season so far despite the draughts biting hard as July wore on. A good level at the start of the season and a cold spring was of help but they need rain now. And the rain might be close now! Several mws‘s have been in the catch recently.
Straumfjaradara‘s opening weekend finished with two mws‘s which is slightly outstanding for a river that has its major runs rather late by Icelandic standard. There is no rule that thee starting anglers are catching fish.
Today we welcome to our clientele the outfitter of Straumfjardara. Straumfjardara is a delicate medium volume river in the central west of Iceland. One of Iceland‘s best when counting the catch per rod per day.
Straumfjardara had an excellent season, as did most if not all rivers in Iceland, more notably though on the western part of the country. 718 salmon was the total for the 3 to 4 rods fishing the river. It is a mere few less than the record season from the year before.
