Vatnsdalsa comes to life!
Vatnsdalsa has finally shifted into top gear and the fishing has been so good over the past few days, that despite the slow start, the managers are now confirming that this is their best start to the season ever. According to the Vatnsdalsa outfitters, the fishing had been slowly but surely improving until it finally exploded last Tuesday, when 25 salmon were landed and on Wedensday 31 more were brought to the beach! „This is as good as it gets,and it is the best start to the season we have seen over our tenure. We can hardly expect it to be this good every year, but at least we see that the river is in good shape,“ the outfitters state on their website. They also told us that part of the improvement is due to strong grilse runs mingling with the mws salmon.
The lowest beat, featuring mostly Hnausastrengur, is the top producer and contributes 10 to 20 fish every day when the fishing is this good. Salmon have appeared all over the river though, and every beat is producing fish.
