Andakilsa

Andailsa is a medium volume, very gentle river, in the southern part of the salmon rich Borgarfjordur area. It actually does not have a juntion with Hvita as most of the other rivers do but the pair of them do share an esturary which comes together above the road bridge to Borgarnes on the main state highway.

Andakilsa is relatively short. It stems from the lake Skorradalsvatn and about midway down the valley a hydro electric dam changes the scene. There are no salmon above it and there is a water regulating dam at the lake. But the salmon beats start below the dam. There are several pools down there, fished by two daily rods. Most of the pools are similar in build, the typical long cut bank pool with a gravel shore facing the higher bank. The pools are preferrably fished from the lower gravel banks. These pools are great water for easy going fly fishing and Andakilsa is generally speaking a prolific and fun river. Exceptional for those who are not into the hard work salmon fishing often asks of its particiopants.
Andakilsa has an excellent self catering lodge containing all the neccesary utensils plus gas barbecue, sauna and jacuzzy
