The rain revived the Ellidaar

Finally some rain on the southwest coast! The weather bureau had recently told us that this had been the dryest and hottest July since late nineteeth century. But the rain had a great affect on the fishing in Ellidaaar, in Reykjavik, according to our contributor Einar Falur.
„We had a rod on the morning shift yesterday and the riverkeeper, Páll Jensson, told us that we had won a lottery ticked. Well, perhaps not exactly, but we did actually encounter the river in good health. The water level was excellent and there was a slight colouring to its texture.

There were fish moving all over the river and my wife and myself landed three on our half day, and lost a few. Everybody was connecting and finishing with the quota of two fish killed per rod. It was a thouroughly gratifying day on the river,“ Einar told us.
At noon on Thurday the river had produced 675 salmon. A great total according to the conditions as Ellidaar has been in decline over the past few years, only starting to recover three years ago. The river is on an upturn, and long may it last.
