Hruta: In great shape after a slow start

Following a slow start on the Hrutafjardara  due to late salmon and receeding water levels, there came the time when the salmon would just not wait any longer. The runs started, and „let the games begin“, the fishing has been great over the past tex days or so despite the levels. And now rain is forseen in the weather forecasts!

The groups have been not all been catching at five star levels, some have had high northern winds that ploughed straight up the river and made fly fishing very difficult. All the groups have though fished into double figures and the best group so far had 53 fish on the three rods over two days. That is the best group we have heard of on Hruta for years and just think what they might have been doing had the salmon not been hold up in three or four big pools due to the lack of water! Hruta‘s best ever total is just over 600 and it is fair to say that the outfitters are harbouring hopes of bettering that this year.
