Hruta close to a record

It‘s late season now in Iceland and we pretty much see what‘s coming to pass. The southwest and west look like being average while many of the northland rivers are looking like they will slash their record catches
One of Hruta‘s main observers is Halldor Olafur Halldorsson who has already had one hugely successful trip to Hruta. He told us: Hruta really looks like smashing its old record. The record stands at 631 salmon in 2004, and before that, the best the river had seen was 536 salmon in 1986. Yesterday Hruta had 482 salmon in the catch book and to reach a new record the river has to produce 4,4 salmon per day to the end of the season. As the season stretches to the end of September it is hard to see that the river will not reach this total.,“ Halldor told us.
