Skoga: Last seasons record in danger of breaking!
Skoga has been in great form so far this season. Photo by Hjálmar Árnason.
Skoga is a late starter and the season is already looking like an automatic record breaker. After ten days of fishing the catch was triple that of last year which was the best so far.
To compare, July produced 48 salmon in 2005. This year 62 had been caught in the ten first days alone. Fresh fish are entering the river on every high tide and we have yet to go into the rivers prime time. We have a full sized tide on the ninth and are expecting that tide to be a boomer.
Most of the Skoga catch are big grilse but there are mws‘s sprinkled in between and one angler hooked and lost a definite 20 pounder after fifty minutes of high drama. There are also some sea char running and one of them actually scaled 7 pounds.
