It looks as if Sogid will be registering a new record catch this season. It has been consistently excellent this season and has been a sort of dark horse as all eyes have been on the record breaking rivers on the north coast.
Sogid, Icelands biggest clear water river, has had an excellent start to the season. It os one of the late rivers yet it has produced a great July and higher totals than usual. Usually the rivers prime time would be starting from here on, yet the river has already produced a total not far from the season totals some years ago. There are reasons for this....
Sogið had its second excellent season in a row and it seems obvious that the net buyouts in the glacial system, led by the Angling Club of Reykjavík, have greatly benefitted Sogið. This season the total catch was some 600 salmon for the beats named, Syðri Brú, Ásgarður, Bíldsfell, Alviðra and Þrastarlundur.
