For a while late on, it looked as if the Stora Laxa would perhaps register a record catch, but in the end, slow fishing on the upper beats pulled down the amazing fishing on the lower beats. The total nevertheless was the rivers third best ever total and a raft of huge salmon were landed in the closing stages

Stóra Laxá had a fine season for 2008, a total of 425 salmon which is 187 over the total from 2007. Both seasons though have ghad low water conditions and it is fair to say that although this is a good total for Stóra Laxá looking at some statistics over the years, people were hoping for a better display due to the net buyouts. However they were for the most part further down the river system and benefitted Sogið more than Stóra Laxá.
