Another record catch for Svalbardsa
A late season big one from Svalbardsa, 95 cm and probably 16-17 pounds.
Svalbardsa registered its second record season in two years as the final catch total ended with 504 landed salmon. It is a catch and relaesa river, so all spare a few injured fish were put back. A huge average of mws‘s in the catch was particularly impressive.
Svalbardsa is fished with only two rods and starts at the start of July. It is fished over a 90 day season so each rod had an average of 252 to their names. That is just under three pr.rod pr.day which is outstanding especially considering that the river had a stretch of dry weather and low waterlevels as a result.
Last seasons record catch was 446 salmon which was considered to be quite outstanding. What makes this record even more impressive is the fact that the grilse runs were not that strong at all. In fact far more mws‘s than have been seen for years upped the total to a new record catch for the river. There were several 18 pound plus fish in the catch, some of them obviously over 20 pounds.
