Fishing for arctic char in the estuary of Breiddalsa and for brown trout in the upper reaches of the river started at the turn of the month. The start was good and promising, although nobody actually tried for the browns. Those on the river went for the char and did not find them wanting.
The sea char fsihing on Breiddalsa was due to start at the start of May, yet flooding and extreame bad weather poured cold water on those plans. Recently conditions improved vastly and the char turned to be in the estuary in substantial numbers.
The sea char and brown trout fishing in Breiddalsa was pretty good, although there was a slight downturn in catch totals. The sea char were up but the browns were down?to the extent that the total was slightly less than in 2007.
